Thanked: 2284Wade & Butcher FBU Rattler
One of my favourite looking razors is a Rattler hump back. I just find the curves sexy! When I saw this one, 8/8 in size, for sale on Ebay I thought, maybe now's the time I put a good bid on a really nice FBU. My hopes have always been to find one in the wild, and I have, but not as clean as I'd like. I've found 3 in the wild, all W&B but just not as clean and big as I'd like. So I bit the bullet tonight and put a good bid on this one and won. Like I said, I've never seen a W&B FBU like this before, and feel pretty lucky that I now have a rare one on the way.

I have one just like it, but I'd say it's a 6/8, was beat up, covered in rust from eBay, and it cleaned up very nice.
Have a feeling yours will clean up just as well, they looked exactly the same, Val gave mine a polish and it came right back.
Scales look like they'll be salvageable as well...congrats!

Thanked: 2284Thanks Andrew...... But man, would you Polish off that patina????
I might have a hard time doing that, but damn, I do like these things shiny too. Probably leave them in these scales, that's a given..... I might leave the blade as is, Polish the collars an pins and maybe the wedge too. We'll see when it gets hereBurls, Girls, and all things that Swirl....

Thanked: 1184Maybe a light non abrasive polish like Blue Magic. I like patina but if your going to use it some cleaning would be wise I would think. Looks like it has a nice bevel set on it. Of course you'll know more when you get it in your hand :<0) No matter what I think you popped at the right time and got a winner you won't regret.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

Thanked: 2284I actually know more than I usually do with these eBay purchases. This one is coming from my good friend Silverloaf. Its shave ready, centered, and no rust. This one's from his personal collection, but he's been posting some to pay for tool repair. I can't help but feel a little guilty from taking this one from him. But at least he knows where it is. I've been chatting with him quite a bit these days, he had no idea I was going to bid on this one though!
