My point was that I am amused by the thought that my scales would never get wet.... And then the implication that if I knew what I was doing it would never happen.
They are not marketing to the average senior user here.
If I was to market a new razor here is an example of a few things I would think of and the solutions.
#1 How do I get my product to stand out?
#1A Lets make it look weird/different.
#2 How do I explain the weird looks?
#2A There are many posts about the worry of shaving naked and dropping your sharp object.
Lets tell them that we planned the texture to prevent the from happening!
#3 What would I tell my buddy's when they laugh at me for spending so much money on a simple object?
#3A We will make it out of some weird and exotic sounding materials with a weird/different grind.
#4 That weird grind has a lot of issues/problems.
#4A The average newbie that buys this will dull it the first time he strops it, get frustrated, and give up after a few tries. Then it is used and they can't return it.

Thanked: 10I think that if I had just spent a week binge-watching Farscape and consuming items of a dubious nature I could have come up with something like that...

Personally I don't even like the look of these razors, and the name sounds funny to me. For $1200 I better be getting a piece of damascus steel that is all hand made from start to finish and 1 of a kind. These look pretty cookie-cutter, I guess the price is because they are titanium...
Seems like a lot of design flaws, produced by someone who probably doesn't straight razor shave. Spending this kind of money I would think people would do their research.Last edited by Justino14; 03-17-2016 at 11:12 PM.

Looks like they read forums.
The new model has a few improvements. Hart steel blade with a standard grind, pin in the scales to prevent the edge touching that stopper.
And a hearty price drop. $800
The Straight Razor - Aluminum — Discommon
I'm still not interested in it, but it's at least a functional design now, rather than a badly though out concept.

This is interesting. I haven't looked close at the aluminium ones.
Are these Hart razors with $600 to $1,000 scales?

Thanked: 3795It's funny (or sad) that they eliminated the double concave and double spine, yet they still got the spine wrong.
Also, does anyone else think that tang angle is kind of wonky for stropping?
