Here's a similar wrinkle on that concept...but this one works. (From The Superior Shave)
"Note the pronounced secondary grinding profile for the final 7mm of the plane of metal closest to the edge line; as with the German razors, this is created with a difficult grinding that runs along the edge of the razor, maximizing flexibility of the metal just beyond the bevel plane. This razor feels and sounds notably different than the rest!"
I own one of these and although it is not "epic" or "revolutionary" in any fashion, it is a really nice and good shaving razor. I did re-define the edge after using it a couple times because I prefer a coticule and this blade (although taking some effort) responded to the coticule just fine. Of course, as it was delivered (finished on a synthetic..I think a Naniwa 12K) it performed quite nicely.Last edited by Phoenix51; 03-16-2016 at 03:06 PM.

Nothing new with that type of grind.
If you take the time to run your fingers across some vintage hollow grinds, you will feel a good number have a belly.. it's just a lot thinner and better blended then the above example.
On a side note:
I know Jarrod is a good guy but his statement "unequivocally thinnest grind profile I've seen in a modern USA production straight" just means he hasn't looked around enough.

Thanked: 3795Here is an example of a razor ground a little (well, a lot) more thinly...
MileMarker60's razors seem to have unequivocally just been unseen.
I find it rather annoying that such an obviously false claim would be made about the unequivocal thinness of that other blade.Last edited by Utopian; 03-16-2016 at 04:44 PM.

Thanked: 2284If someone had the money to buy this modern "razor", and asked my opinion if they should buy it, I would say no. Go buy an Ali's Blade, a Brian Brown, and a Snail Forge....... because you could buy all three with that kind of money.
