My GGF and GGGF both used their own razor, doing my research I suspect they bought their own razor as new.
They both lived at the same time and both had to shave, so to each his own razor, when one passed the other one took his razor though and continued to shave with it himself.
I inherited my great grandfather's razor and along in the box was my great great grandfather's razor as well, how do I know this? Initials were carved into the scales, why? Not sure, but might be war related.
But nowadays the production of razors differs than 100 years ago and there's the internetz for easy vintage razor finding,
I really prefer vintage razors and restoring them, since there might be somewhat of a more emotional meaning to them,
as they probably once belonged to someone.
When looking for vintage blades we mostly look for well cared blades, ergo why I want to keep paying respect to that razor like the previous owner did. All vintage blades were once new. Out of all the modern day razors and vintage razors that I bought. I only use my vintage ones to shave with anymore. De gustibus non est disputandum, I prefer vintage.
I used to pay higher amounts for vintage blades, nowadays I pay around 10 to 20 euros and won't go higher. You can find a lot of perfectly fine vintage razors in this price range, just not often the fancy overhyped brands. But who would want those anyway? I bought 7/8 Bartmanns for 15 euros, it can happenLast edited by TristanLudlow; 04-07-2016 at 03:11 PM.
