I am more interested in what company they're sourcing the blades from. Didn't see any indication other than it says swedish steel.

I'm sorta surprised this thread is dormant. I've been following the model T and it's so close too release now I figured there'd be some buzz. Especially because the head profile was recently changed.

I won't go so far as to say that there is no difference in DE razors but to me it was all about the blade you put into it. For that reason, I only ever had two of them. I preferred the feel of the Edwin Jagger and it was the handle that held the defining characteristic. On the other hand, the blade used made the shave vary greatly.

I am not too surprised as this is basically a dedicated straight razor forum and as a consequence there is very little interest in DEs. Personally I have several vintage Gillette adjustable DEs and don't feel very tempted by the new offering as a consequence.

I don't know about the adjustable TTO version, but I have one of his Rockwell 6S three piece razors with two different blade gaps on each of 3 furnished base plates. I only recently bought it, so I've only shaved with the 5 and the 3 gap/exposures. Really a good DE shaver, and for the price you can't beat it. His Swedish blades are good too. Not on a par with Feathers, or Gillette 7o'clocks, but equal to Derby or Merkur blades AFAIC.

it should be interesting to try and see how it measures up. The price is still reasonable even now.

I actually got in on the early orders and backed the kickstarter. I know the write up caters to people who are currently using a cartridge, but a lot of thought went into the design. Rockwell razors had a bumpy start with thier first razor but earned a stellar reputation for following through and putting the customer first. I have one of his three piece SS models, and it is one of the two or three best DE's I have ever shaved with. I bought one for my son when he started DE shaving, and he loves the thing.

It is a relatively unique offering, considering it is TTO and Adjustable. We haven't seen one of those in a long time. Apparently the DE guys do too, because his original Kickstarter had a goal of $50,000 and he ended up preselling over $400,000 worth of them.

I dunno, over on another forum they seem to be moaning about the roll out date being pushed back and parts to be made of zamak instead of brass in the head in production models.

I do not understand the need to use zamak as Gillette used brass decades ago. It is also supposed to be user strippable which I find not to be much of a feature as none of the yard sale Gillette adjustables I have encountered need stripping down to made operational. Consider the Gillette adjustables are in the neighbourhood of half a century old now and they are still plentiful.

Yeah, he announced the change to some zamak parts on the head a couple of weeks ago. Prior, he had stated all SS and brass. Maybe enough people are up in arms that it will end up back to brass. Too soon to tell. The delay was a bit of a surprise too, as the project was so well funded, and updates were nothing but blue sky until a couple of weeks ago.

I backed it early, but not long after I pretty much completely stopped using DE razors. I figured I would just sell the thing when it released. When the delay was announced and materials changed from what was promised, I cancelled. Not worth the wait. I let him keep like $8 so he didn't go backwards on the Kickstarter fee, and am just chalking it up to experience, I guess.
