    Hi
I never got a good edge on the Gold dollar but that may have been my in experience with the hone.
I don't think I will try another gold dollar.
I had several more good shaves with the ZY

I hate to admit it, but I got a very good shave with mine today as well. As good as my DE. I enjoy nicer personal items, but I can't fault the results. I am not concerned about how long the edge holds up in the long run as I am still acquiring others, and don't mind touch up honing.

Sometimes you just have to try something for yourself, I dont expect much and who can for a razor that costs me the same as 2 pints of beer?

I was remotely interested until you put it that way...beer wins in a unanimous decision.

“I can see the scratches made by my 10000 chinese stone and my strop loaded with car polishing compound takes the scratches off and the edge apears smooth with my glass.
My loaded strop is impregnated with this stuff.
It works quite well for me.”

Stropping on polishing compound will leave a harsh edge, might be why you have to wait 2 days for your face to heal.

You might consider sending one of your razors out for honing, so you will have something to compare to.

Why/how does polishing compound leave a harsh edge? Wouldn't a smoother (smaller striations) edge be better for your skin?
I surely do believe you. I skipped diamond paste recently and stropped the hell out of my Dovo using an SRD premium fabric/natural leather strop straight off a 10K stone, and it was a very smooth shave, perhaps my best. Maybe .5 diamond paste leaves a harsh edge too?
