I too have bought from Larry. I am not a dissatisfied customer.
There are frequently better values in the classifieds.
It is difficult to wade through all of the how to buy and what all the different stuff about razors mean in the beginning.
Essentially you are best to go with a 5/8 or 6/8 round point razor, in either a full or half hollow.
Your location is a little odd as it shows Italy and Canada, I resume from that you have your time split between two locations due to work.
It should be easy to mail order to your Canadian address for when you are here and I would expect there are shops in Italy.

Suggest getting in touch with SRP member Badgister who is in Montreal.

Zayid's a good guy and will help steer you right.

    Good luck!

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Just to add to what's already been said. I have dealt with Larry on quite a few of his items. Never been dissatisfied at all. Larry is a stand up guy who is also a member here and has helped me a lot when I was first starting out. Just my 2˘.

What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

I never understood the reason for trying to save the value of a medium sized pizza in exchange for a razor that is guaranteed to look bad, and might or might not shave well. From my experience, if you have to buy a used razor, buy one that you know will good look, and might actually shave. Or, as we say here, try the Classifieds by all means.

I think this is one of those YMMV things all the way around...and there are many circular arguments one can have about price, value, appearance, and a whole host of other factors. At the end of the day though, I think WD value comes for the person who is really undecided....is this for them? Is it not? For a low cost of entry, this part can at least be hashed out. My first razor was a sight unseen (not flawed) from WD and it certainly was not a looker. It was, however, in perfectly good working order and to this day I still use it in my rotation. I also learned how to hone a bit with it (it has a lot of hone wear and it was good to learn that methodology and use of tape). It often finds itself traveling with me as it doesn't represent a valued loss should it vanish for no good reason.

So if a person is fairly certain that straight shaving is for them, perhaps the classifieds or a new entry level razor is a good option. If they are really riding the fence, WD is there to serve that need as well.

    Another option...
If they are riding the fence, they can buy from the Classifieds. If they find that the straight path is not for them, they can re-sell it in the Classifieds.

I bought 2 sight unseen razors (one flawed, one not). Both shave wonderfully, but they aren't pretty. And that's just fine with me because I value function much more highly than form.

My experience is that he's an extremely nice guy and fully backs up his wares. But his website flat out tells you that all corners are cut to keep prices low, but not at the sacrifice of shave quality.

If pretty is important to you, Larry isn't your guy. If knowing exactly what you're going to get is important to you, Larry isn't your guy.

Personally, the sight unseen mystery made it all the more fun. Also, I had no idea what sort of size, grind, etc I'd like so I just went that route to save myself the frustration of analyzing everything to death.

I purchased my 1st SR from WD, it was a pipe razor, the scales ended up being broken and the edge wasn't sharp even though they said it was shave ready. I got a partial refund
