I'll put it down to part of my "learning curve"...

Did it mark up the strop at all? If that mark was from the strop it should have left a mark on it. Try cleaning that spot off with some WD 40 it might just be adhesive or dirt. Good luck.

Thanked: 3215You might want to read some of the reviews before you use it.
It is polishing compound, it is not Chrome Oxide, which is why they call it “Green Polishing Compound”, who knows what is in it, they don’t tell you.
You can buy pure, Razor quality Chrome Oxide from SRD for about the price of this polishing compound, a life time supply.
It might polish out a particular, small chip, but generally these polishing compounds are too aggressive and leave a harsh chippy edge, that must be honed or stropped smooth on… pure Chrome Oxide. So it may remove one, but leave others.
How or what it will take to remove a chip, depend on the size of the chip.
In the photos, I see what looks like a chip in the center of the photos.
Look straight down on the edge, if you see any shiny reflections, those are chips.
Or run the tip of a Q-Tip just the cotton along the edge, it there is any snagging, you have a chip.
Which USB scope are you using? You should be able to get a much higher magnification from a USB scope.
Don'f feel bad, this is a common issue with new shavers, a goose neck facet will remove it from the danger zone.

It looks like a chip to me but try cleaning the edge and see if the the spot removes and the bevel is intact. If so, try shaving. I would run a very light stream of water on the edge after cleaning and see if it reacts to the bump or lack of.

With my background in physics, I have mostly been using tests that involve light reflection.
After the third day of stropping, I don't see any indications of whatever it was...
Guess I lucked out!Last edited by howdydave; 06-13-2016 at 05:10 PM.

Thanked: 3215How does it shave? That is all that counts.
If it is not scratching, you lucked out.

Thanked: 96CARPET SOLUTION
I have a throw rug by my sink in my bathroom just in case. The one place I did drop a razor was when I was honing it. Putting my stones away and heard the razor hit the floor I knew it was bad news. Put a nice nick on the blade edge which took some serious honing to correct. I now have a rubber mat on the floor by my work station. I also have a towel by the sink just to protect the razor when I put it down.
