Thanked: 0Karl Benz Straight Razor
Hey everyone. I joined this site because I thought someone here could shed some light on my current issue. I have an excellent to mint condition straight razor made by Karl Benz (Mercedes-Benz) and I am wondering if anyone here has any information about it at all. I have looked high and low and can't seem to find much on this particular blade. I've asked around on the internet on a few sites since yesterday and nobody really knows all that much about it. Mostly that Karl Benz got into the razor game and then failed miserably at it. From what I have seen, supposedly there were only 1000 made and then they went bankrupt or his business partner screwed him over or something like that. Any info on this from any of you would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Ah yes, the elusive Karl Benz razor. They are especially scarce due to a major recall shortly after product launch. The German Federal Institute of Risk Assessment (BfR) found a high risk of sudden breaking causing loss of control. This occurred more frequently when used on heavy beard growth.

Besides that, nice to see an inusual specimen. Reminds me the amazing Voidmonster's Stodarts case. Things like this are potential "information lures" for this community. Soon someone who have the answers shall give us answers.

My pleasure, vinyljunkie81. I think it's really admirable that you mentioned the recall in your eBay lisiting I am sure many unscrupulous sellers would omit to do so.

It seems by your Ebay listing you know pretty much everything about it, otherwise you wouldn't have posted it for sale, lol.....
