    Default Show us your thumbnotches!

I thought this would be a good idea for a thread, as i kind of realized that my favourite razors all are thumbnotched.
so it'd be cool to see all the different thumbnotched razors that people like/own!

    These are mine:

from top to bottom, j.rodgers & sons 7/8 wedge, E. Kron Solingen 7/8, Mussel (Ern) Hand forged 13/16, and Minerva werk 11/16

    Nice collection.

I like the 3 pin horn scales and the blade, on the Minerva, what are the scales on the dark one next to it, the ERN? Ern’s are shavers.

Are the 3 pins at the wedge a design element?

    Hey, Thanks first of all!
The scales are desert ironwood cross cut.
And the 3 pin "arrangement" is because i re-used the scales from one i decided to sell, and i wanted to keep the wood.
But the first time round i glued in the brass tube (they were i think one of the first set of scales i ever made for a razor) as i didnt have any collars for peening.
so i had to cut down the center of the wedge and put another 2 in for re-assembling (not so easy to drill out brass tube with just an old dremel). haha I know it doesnt look nice... i just didnt want to throw that beautiful wood away.

And i totaly agree! ERN has some lovely steel!

Yea, looked like Ironwood, have some and looking to make some scales from it.

You could do a 3 pin design and make it work. A pin vice and a new bit works pretty well, if you don’t have a drill press, on wood and brass.

Did you do the horn, looks nice? Line the 3 pin.

Here are my thumb notches. A smiling blade with a thumb notch doesn't get much better than that.

I have several with thumb notches but I know I have two for sure that have a finger notch on top & a thumb notch on the bottom. I need to leave for awhile but when I get home, I will look for them.
