That would be so unforgiving I would think. I would look to a shorty made as such from the get go like the many that exist. I think Brian Brown Customs makes one as well as PRC makes a nice looking shorty.

Unfortunately both of those seem to be far far outside my price range. Was hoping to stay in the sub-$50 category.

I was looking for a short razor for awhile till I came across a Torrey little guard. About 2" long. They usually come with a guard over the blade that you can remove. Here is mine. http://straightrazorpalace.com/custo...my-shorty.html
