Thanked: 0Bunch of Straight razors to identify
Hi all. I just joined. I just joined for the sole purpose of understanding what razors I have recently received. Many I am able to research and have gotten a good idea of where it came from, but a few have me stumped. I was hoping someone on here wouldn't mind dedicating a few moments of their time to help me identify. If not, just enjoy the pictures!
This first one was easy enough to identify the maker - Broker. The thing that has me confused is the "Ideal Shaber" on the blade. I haven't found any like that in mu google searching.

Last one is a Joseph Rodgers and son. All I got though.

The Ideal Shaver by Boker is pretty obvious - good shaver.
The Candless is a novelty from the Coleraine & Portrush train line with a flyball governor on the tang. Don't know anything else about it. It's cool looking though!
And the last one is a Joseph Rodgers and son. Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

Both the Boker and Joseph Rodgers & Sons are top of the line razors, you will love the shave off both. Bokers's are German made and well known for their 'Buttery Smooth' shave, the JR&Sons are some of the very best Sheffield razors.
Never heard of The Candless, could be rare but have no idea if its any good or will shave well. Get her honed up and see, may be a gem in disguise.Last edited by DoughBoy68; 08-12-2016 at 10:08 AM.

Thanked: 0I greatly appreciate it! I will look into the train line one, I wondered if it was some kind of advertising.
The ideal shaver seemed obvious- but I really couldn't find any information. I was wondering if it was considered their classic razor. The old man and I looked closely at the blade and both thought the V in shaver looks off, fancy old time cursive and all. Then again- this is super new to me.
I have a bunch more, although most need cleaning and are easy enough to find history on.

This may help:
STRAZORS.com - all about classic razors - Home page
BTW- Boker is a easy ID> great German razor; the second I have no idea but love that tang inlay! The 3rd razor is a J.R. which is a decent razor too. The link above is a great resource if you have never seen it before.German blade snob!

Thanked: 8Some nice razors! I agree on the quality of both the Rodgers and Bökers...excellent shavers! I had not heard of the Candless, so ya learn something new everyday!
Here's another mystery razor I've had in the collection for some time and am still uncertain of the maker. Possubly made by Böker, perhaps, as the covered tang and blade style are reminiscent of many of their models. German-made. 'The Perfect'
