    Default Opinions please...

I am thinking of purchasing a new Ralf Aust 5/8. Anyone care to venture an opinion on this razor? I always like to do my homework before I make a purchase...first hand experience is always a good barometer.

I own a few, they are great razors. Well built and nice lookers IMO. The shave is very nice also. I purchased mine from SRD and it came shave ready with a free future honing.

I have honed a couple, and owned one Ralf Aust. They seemed pretty well made, hone fairly easily and shaved well. Fit and finish was nice and no issue with geometry, so all in all they are a decent brand.

I have an Aust 5/8 round point. It is a nice razor that came with a great edge from SRD. The attention to detail on the Aust was much better than the other newly manufactured razor I have owned.

Highest recommendation, but I'd opt for a 6/8 ......... either way, you can't go wrong.

I love my 5/8 Ralf. I got the round point from SRD so the edge is killer and it stays sharp for many many shaves before it needs a refresh. It's my best shaver by far and one that all my other blades I hone get compared to. Like yourself, I too like to do my homework. Ralf Aust came highly recommended here and I'm glad I listened. I would like to try the 6/8 myself but the 5/8 is a great size as well. Guess I'll just have to get myself another one[emoji3]

I have two of them! The simple 5/8 with black acrylic scales that is the best razor for the money hands down. And a sculpted spine with horn scales that is just as good.

Great company and they are quality razors!
