Well, I've taken the plunge and bid, only 3 hrs to go and I appear to be the only twit showing interest. The wife will likely kill me.

Thanked: 3228I'd go along with Rezdog as I can't see any physical reason not to bid for the right price.
I have a French frameback, not TI, and it is an excellent shaver. It strops like any other razor I own and it hones up like any other smiling blade razor I own. Smiling blades need a different stroke than straight edged blades. For me that has been a rolling swooping X stroke. When honing I would use a very light touch as the blades on framebacks like that are very thin right to the spine.

Thanked: 4828Many wives simply see a whit handle or a black handle and look no further. Unless she sees them all at once, it will be just your usual black handled razor. Most people wait for the last five seconds to bid. The auction is often up for a week but no one bids until the very end. That is unless you are the only bidder straight through and that happens too. Good luck.

I'll let you guys know how I get on, if I don't secure the TI I may just purchase the Hart (if its still on). I have my vintage CMON and Revisor on for sale so I can always play the razor re-circulation ticket with her ladyship.

Just took a look at the ebay listing of this razor. Take a good look at the cutting edge, looks quite irregular on the side with the print. Might take some work to get the egde in shaveable condition.

That's a #69, superb razor, I have one myself, as well as a #19, and an assortment of French frame backed razors - aside from the large Sheffield razors I prefer, I equally enjoy the French frame backed razors, they shave superbly, there is no issue with stropping, and they are very fun in the hand.
That particular model, the #69, is one of the nicest and most consistent French framebacks you'll find in my opinion, I've had a few of them, good luck, they're also very popular IIRC....

Hmm Kees, are you referring to what appears to be a bit of a sweep to the bevel at the centre edge? And please tell me that isn't you getting lathered by an attractive blond woman in your avatar, I've only had two cups of tea today and there is only so much a chap can handle on a Sunday afternoon.

Yes to question one and no to question 2.
I wonder what that sweep is, you'll see it on all pictures of that side of the blade.
