Just took another look. When I used to hang out in barber shops in North NJ 30 years ago, picking those old guys brains, I was told that barber supplies had a route with a delivery truck that went around to the shops with all the gear they might need. No internet, and probably very little telephone ordering.
So anyway ....... the supply salesman carried replacement scales on the truck and would install them for the customers. Note the pin is only at the top. None at the wedge end. Although some factory razors may have had that type of scale, many, many of the replacement scales were made like that. In any case, from that time period the Reynolds would have had horn scales probably.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
