Thanked: 0Another Newbie with an unknown Razor
So I just picked up this razor at a flee market. Needs some TLC; but should clean up ok.
The only identifying mark on it is the word "EXPERT" where one would expect to see the company name.
I've seen a post somewhere that you can get an idea of how old the razor is by the tang.
I'd really like to know what I got for my $5. Who made it? Where? how old?

Welcome to SRP, I can't help you but someone should be along to give you an idea of how to figure it out

Thanked: 0I didn't notice before, but on the reverse side, on the very tip of the tang is a capitol "S"

Looks as if we're ground on, or sanded. I'm stumped.!!

Thanked: 101Looks more primitive than the Genco to me. Cool razor, can you tell what the scales are made of? Looks like a factory pining job.

Thanked: 0The Pic's make the scales look very rough. They are not. They are very smooth. Not sure if someone put CA over wood or not. Looks like wood with a hard coat, or a good job at faux wood grain, then worn through in spots. I am very new at this and I haven't learned to discern compressed celluloid vs plastic vs a hard coated wood. It light and FEELs like my Winchester.
I'll polish and sharpen this week. Will post a follow up pic.
