Horn scales on old Sheffield blades rule! If there is any way possible to repair the original scales it would be the way to go. If not try locating some horn blanks and make your own using the originals as a pattern. I would also go for the Bullseye washers, really looks sharp on big wedges. Shoot me a PM if you can't find any.

Here's a couple project razors I found locally in New Hampshire. They sure ain't pretty and I've just sort of been sitting on them until I'm ready to figure them out. The top one I found last summer at a seasonal antiques store and it measures 17/16. It has some sort of pressed hard leather(?) homemade scales that trapped a lot of moisture on the tang so the tang stamp is almost completely rusted away. The bottom one is 8/8 and I found it at a "closed" antiques store. The guy's father ran the store out of an out-building on their property until a few years ago and when he passed the son just left it sit. I was just Googling and calling random antiques stores one day about four years ago, the number was still active and the son told me he would open it up if I wanted to take a look. He was firm on the price his dad put on it there and the sticker is still on the scales - $9.00. Someday I hope to work on cleaning these up.

Here's an old picture of one of mine after the cleanup.
Just shaved with it this morning.
