Default Show me your W&B FBU!

    Hello everyone!
    So, a few things..
    1) I'm new here.
    2) I don't know how to post pics from my iPhone, it wouldn't work for me. Any tips?
    And...
    3) I finally won a Wade and Butcher FBU off eBay. I took off the scales since they were cracked and now I need some inspiration on material/design for new scales. I want to see what everyone's FBU looks like in hopes to get a sense of which direction I should go. Thank you in advance!

And I looked back at that thread and saw I said absolutely nothing about gluing old horn scales.

The really short version is that if you clean them with soap and water and then let them dry out very thoroughly, you can glue the parts together with any cyanoacrylate glue -- very thin formulations work best, especially if there isn't a full break. If it's just cracked, push the pieces together as flush as possible and a tiny drop of thin CA glue will wick right into the crack and seal it.

The bond is very durable. I have glued cracked pivots many times.

Holes can be filled in with powdered horn and CA glue. It takes a little practice, but it's not too hard.

If there are faded and/or delaminated spots, they can simply be dyed using the techniques I laid out in the link above.

Shaved with one this morning, a wedge. Minimalist resto. All original except the top pin.

Going too far will ruin them. Take it easy or leave it alone until you know whats-what. JMHO.

Thanks! My scales were far beyond repair, or I would if loved to have kept the scales original. I will use that info in the future if I find some horn scales worth saving.

Nope. Lots can be done. Don't deem them hopeless just yet!
All-original seems to be the the program.
