I may be missing something on this one......but I don't think so!
While peruzzing the Bay I ran across the Boker 6/8 Silver Steel with the faux tortoise scales listed here:
Boker 5/8 Tortoise Germany Straight Razor With 24kt.Gold Etch New In Box | eBay
They have it at 5/8 and unless I am unaware I don't think there is a 5/8 Silver Steel to my knowledge. Then I looked at the description and it seems they are passing it on as real tortoise scales???? Okay, I know I am preaching to the choir more than likely but do you think this to be deceptive advertisement or just ignorance of the razor by the seller.
Or am I missing something on this one for sure?
Not trying to start a storm here but I look for certain razors from time to time and while I don't know a lot of factual background, this one I do have some knowledge of and most sell for around $160 tops from what I have seen. Is this something of a sought after razor this person has????German blade snob!

IMO, after reading the description from the seller I would venture to guess they don't have a clue what they are talking about. The description is repetitive in a couple spots and it is clearly a new blade in a "colectors" box this is the sellers spelling. To me it appears to be bigger than 5/8 but I am not an expert by any means. I would not pay that much for it, to me it is a new razor being sold by a person trying to make it seem something it is not. Those are not real tortoise Id spend less money else where if you like the razor.

I am not looking to buy it for I think it to be seller hype intended either to get a bit from the unbeknownst or they truly have no idea what they are selling. All Silver Steel Boker's I have seen are either in the faux ivory or tortoise scales. I will say the one thing that got me that I have not seen on the tortoise scale version is the appearance that it does have gold lettering???? I have not seen one in tortoise to ever have that. That is what made me wonder if this was a special of some sort in that lineup.
But even then, gold lettering is not worth $120 more than the regular. Unless they were to be truly tortoise scales which may start tipping the scale back.
Thanks for the input......hope no one falls for that one!German blade snob!

That amount of money gives you a lot of options. A Boker such as this is a nice razor. But not that nice.

I have only looked at Boker and never bought one. I can not say if it is odd or not to have gold etching or not. I just found he has the same DOVO I bought a year ago with gold wash on the blade and pearlex scales and he wants a more than I paid by about $100.
I don't believe it is lighting it appears to be "gold" lettering on the blade. I put gold in quotes because it looks different than the gold wash on my dovo, not as shinny. Heck I don't know seems like he is really trying to make a mark up on the blades he is selling.Nothing is fool proof, to a sufficiently talented fool...

I bought one of these from SRD. It is an excellent shaver. They make a LOT of sound and hone up well.
