Thanked: 133question about shaving with 3/8 razor
Does anyone have experience with a razor this thin? there is a french razor that is nos going for 60 that is 3/8 that I am considering. I have shaved with 5/8-8/8 and wanted to know if there was a huge difference in the shave? I like the way it looks and its from a quality factory just wanting opinions on shaving with a 3/8 before I decide.
edit: Rad got to me its on the way haha, but still interested to hear what you guys think about shaving with a 3/8Last edited by Christian1; 04-25-2017 at 03:40 PM.

Thanked: 13249They are in a word "Nimble"
They have very little mass so the edge has to be perfect, and the nimbleness can be good or bad it really depends on you
I find them hard to Hone, Strop, and Shave with, simply because they confound my Size XL large hands but that is not the fault of the razor I have to pay extra close attention when messing with them

Thanked: 12I bought a little 4/8 early on. I still have it, but everyone else is spot on. What I didn't expect was the whole razor is scaled down proportionally with the width. The tang is small, the scales are small. Feels like a toy razor in the hand. I was able to shave with it, but never really got comfortable. I think it's because it is so light that you have to do all the work for it.

I have, its alright, but I'd rather use a 4/8, its what I shaved with for 20 some years or so.

I find a 5/8 to be the smallest razor size I can effectively shave with. I could not imagine trying to shave, hone, or strop a 3/8 razor. Hope it works out for you all the same.

I have a 4/8 that was given to me and honestly since I know a bit more than when I started, I have not used it in ages. I like it and it does shave well, as stated it is nimble and yes the are a bit of a pain to hone and strop. But if that was all I had I would certainly be happy with it. I used it quiet a lot when I first got it.
