And now we have fully hijacked this thread about a French blade. Actually, it's mostly my fault.

Thanks, that's fantastic! At least that one looks like you can hold onto the tang. The enormous French one (steering back on topic) looks difficult to hold on to.

Both of them are monsters. And I see where the French one would be hard to hold on too. Still a nice piece for sure.
Bet it was a special item. Still a nice one for a collector. I know most of us are hoarders and not collectors but I try too full myself. It's just Sharpening, right?

I'm interested in getting your take on the feel of it when held "properly." That has to be quite heavy to shave with, but it looks Awesome! I instantly thought of a video I recently saw of a Russian guy who gives professional haircuts to brave women... With a hatchet!

Great find that tang is bizarre makes the razor look totally out of proportion.

Wow, that's a great find.
If you do find it difficult to shave with I'm sure it could be used as an axe. Alternatively given a good mirror polish it could be used as a full length mirror for travel.
That thing is huge!Fact: Opinions are not the same as facts... Well, that's my opinion anyway

Looks like the edge would protrude through the scales when closed. Re-scaled at some point possibly?
