That's the issue I'm having I can't find any thing with paired razor boxes from them. Let alone a miss match scale from them. Been frustrating to say the least.

Chatham, Ontario, went to school with someone from Chatham...welcome to the forum.

The scales as you know are not genuine tortoise or ivory, and it can sometimes be tough to tell the difference.

Nice find, get them shave ready and you're good to go....

Yea, a little Podunk town here. But I actually came from Blenheim, and even smaller town just south of Chatham. But thanks for the welcome, and I'm loving it so far guys. Everyone here is great. Extremely helpful and kind individuals. I am happy to have become a part of the scene here. A wealth of endless information and beautiful razors to see and learn about. I love every aspect of this place. What was the gents name from school anyways if you don't mind me asking, maybe I know them.

Yea that's what I'm thinking as well. Seems to be bug bites revealing a darker material underneath.

For the record, here are two razors, one genuine tortoise, the other "faux" tortoise...can you tell which one is real?

Just from my recent research I would say top is real, bottom is fake. But am still uncertain to be able to say definitively. But I'm goiń by the pinning without the washer on the first (although the seconds bottom doesn't as well), and the transparency of the second one. As well as the dark in the second seems to be coming from the bottom and not all the way through. Just a coat over top of it. And the foggy edges of the dark on the second, but I kind of see that on the first as well.
