    Yeah you have to really be on guard when buying kamisoris using pictures because the omote can be flat. Also you really dont want to buy a kamisori with chips or anything because they hate low grit rocks. I don't think I ever go below 5k on mine

    Thanks, I wasnt thinking that there is a night and day dif between western straights and kamisoris I was looking at it as just another grind

    Yes, western grind razors have a symmetrical grind with the shoulder of the spine where it contacts the hone the on the same plane on both sides. Both sides of the razor are ground mirror image.

    Traditional Kamisori grind razors have an asymmetrical grind where the shoulder of the spine are on different panes with one lower than the other looking at it head on. Add to that one side of the blade has a more hollow grind that the other.

    A traditional Kamisori is honed differently from a western style razor.
