Unfortunately I lost it in a card game at sea a couple hundred years ago but I used to pal around with this dude Carpophorus in ancient Rome and I told him specializing in fighting half starved wild animals wasn't a good idea but before that Tiger devoured him in the Colosseum he gave me his razor as a gift.

Too bad I don't have it anymore. It wasn't much to look at, just a simple bronze blade that scraped more than cut.

You would be surprised how often that happens.

This one is a pretty rare razor, a HoshiTombo 8000 to find a mint one consider yourself very lucky, find a NOS like this one would be a grail for most collectors.

Zak I too have a couple of Elliots but a little different than yours.

The New York reads Independence on the reverse side.

Heres another which was imported by Wolf & Clarks and reads New York on the reverse side. Unfortunately it has been sprayed with a clear coating.

Lots to choose from, but I've been slow to get pictures of the majority of my razors. I do have a shot of my two rarest pearls though.

Top is a Henckels dressed in one-piece mother of pearl with a .800 silver overlay front and back.
Bottom is a Waterville Cutlery razor with three-panel abalone scales shaped at the ends.

Excellent! That nicely confirms what I’d found previously, though it does look like your New York razor was reground slightly — that stabilizer doesn’t look original.

Mine also says ‘Independence’ on the pile side. To the best of my knowledge, there are only Philadelphia, Boston, and New York scales.

Likely this one, I could look at it all day rather than use it :-)

I received these 2 for honing today, a pair of Mappin & Webb dressed in Ivory never honed or used quite a rarity.

There was also a New Orleans version!
