Default How common is this razor?

This is a gorgeous razor and I would bid on it IF I hadn't already bought a few others.

How common a model is it?

I haven't seen one (or been looking) with the writing on the blade but the listing calls it a Friodur (I used to have one) but I don't think this is a Friodur. It seems to be more modern. It doesn't say Friodur or Inox on it.

I had a Friodur 71 1/2 (6/8") Inox (stainless steel). From my reading the Friodur models are considered better than the later models.

J.A. Henkels razors, in general, are very common but well received. I don't care for stainless but I'm not sure this one is even stainless.

Nowhere in the listing title is the word, "Friodur." Here's the copy/paste: "NOS? Enameled 5/8 J.A. HENCKELS 70½ Straight Razor SOLINGEN w/ box 70 1/2"

It's a carbon steel razor most likely (no Friodur stamp on tang).

I didn't saying anything about the title. I actually read the listing.

Up for auction is a pristine

    5/8’s inch

    J.A. Henckels

    70½

    Straight Razor

    · Condition – Excellent condition

    · Point - Round

    · Width - 5/8 (approximately 17mm)

    · Shoulder - Double Shoulder

    · Scales (Handles) - Plastic with a Light Cream Wood Grain Pattern and embedded metal insignia

    · Grind - Half Hollow

    · Spine - Straight / Plain

    · Jimps - Bottom of the tang

    · Text on Tang - 70½ J.A. HENCKELS SOLINGEN ZWILLINGSWERK

Special Note - This particular Henckels has a round tip and a half-hollow grind, making this 5/8" razor one of the more popular razors of all time, producing a more forgiving shave for beginners and experienced shavers alike. This straight is in immaculate condition: original factory machine finish, unfaded and perfect enamel design, opens and closes tightly and centered.

Please keep in mind that this Zwillingswerk Friodur is vintage (about several decades old). There is a very slight haze on some parts of the blade due to long term storage, but judging from the lack of spine wear and the uniform narrow bevel, this Henckels is most likely unused, new-old stock. Although it should be "shave-ready" from the factory, I still highly recommend that this blade be refreshed before use. Because everyone's whiskers are different, no guarantee is implied as to its actual "shave-readiness." Comes with the original box (slightly worn) as pictured.

Please refer to the pictures of the actual item up for auction and judge the condition for yourself.

It is not a Friodur. The 70 1/2 in carbon in the ivory coloured scales is a bit odd. That colour of scales if typical of Friodurs. The engraving and enameling is also not very common, and the enamel seems to be a weak feature as well, as you see more of them with partial enamel than full. It’s a nice razor. I can tell you I have had good dealings with that vendor.

If it were a Friodur it would have that on the scales and Inox (stainless steel) on the blade.

This is a typical Friodur https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-Straigh...cAAOSwlO1ayyPO

Friodur is Henckels proprietary name for their tempering process for stainless steel. It is a cryogenic process sometimes called Ice Tempered/Ice Hartung.
