    Default Art Nouveau Razors

I really love art nouveau, and I am also just starting to shave with straight razor so I would really like to know as much as I can about art nouveau straight razors. If any body could tell me more about the razors featured on this sites home page in the top corner, as well as makers that had art nouveau models that would also be very appreciated. I might also be willing to buy some nice art nouveau pieces with the $100 range, if that is even possible

Thank you very much for your time and information

    Welcome to the site,

Thse pieces are around and popular (imagin that ). You should not have to much of a problem finding them, it's getting ahold of them that can be a bugger

I got one from Ebite that was in bad shape (still working on it) but not fatel, so there is still hope for it.

    Smile Welcome, White Rabbit

For that price, you might want to keep a close eye on eBay.

Thanks for the info.. speaking of ebay I just snagged a J.R TORREY CO of ebay today. Since im a newbie, id like to know what people think about it and if they think I got a good deal. Also, it appears that many different companies are using those art nouveau scales that I was talking about earlier, is this true, and if so has anyone ever seen any other art nouveau scales other then the ones I've been talking about?

    Thanks

Wow that's a nice set of scales!

Interesting, the 'The Celebrated' engraving looks like the same engraving you find on Wade & Butcher razors, but this is a Torrey. I wonder how the two companies might have been related.

I only have one Torrey, but the one I have is a good, smooth shaver. Seems they are made of good quality steel.

Nice, good luck with the restoration. On that note, do you know of anything that I could use to make the engraving seem more defined. Im talking about something like a varnish or glaze that would permanently darken up all that low points and leave the high points bright since the one that I got seems very monotoned and clean. I do oil painting so I have alot of natural varnishes or glazes but I don't think that would work.. I hope this doesn't sound crazy

If you look at this razor on the homepage in the top corner, you'll see what I mean, the engraving is very defined..
