Before finding you folks, and getting your input, I bought one of the blue models. On opening the package, the edge looked as if it had been burned at the heel from too much heat in the final finishing. I returned it , and was refunded my money, but that took over a month, due to the post and customs.

Thanked: 1what about a vintage kamisori?
hey guys, i saw this thread and i wanted to ask, what about a vintage kamisori? this razor is a straight razor, but like an iwasaki, it does not fold. i looked at kamisoris website and their folding razors looked kind of cheap. i found this on ebay and i am hoping i dont get ripped off.
any help would be appreciated.

Wow, old thread...!
It depends on what sort of Kamisori you mean? Razors like the Iwasaki Kamisori are Japanese straight razors and shave very well. The Kamisori company this thread is talking about make Western style razors that are not suitable for shaving with.
Your best bet is to post a link to the auction in the Auction talk forum and have other members take a look if you are not sure.
Good luck!

+1.. On what Stubear says. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I have two Iwasaki's and they beautiful. The shave is superb. They are not for everyone. They are not cheap, beware of imitations and if you decide to take the plunge, get one from a reliable source.
Have a nice day
