I think your razor is a first-generation fitted with the incorrect scales, the box is correct for a first-generation Doble Temple, take a look at a NOS first-generation, Doble Temple, I sold a few years back.

Here's another first-generation Especial I also sold on a few years back.

Mark, you are right the scales are definitely from a second-generation model, another give away they don't have any country of origin stamped on the opposite side of the tang they left it blank, it could be just in between model when they were switching over to the second generation model, the blank including the tang stamp with the upright 14 looks like the first generation the gold wash with the Lyra is the second generation, as you rightly say Mark, first-generation models had a gold JMP stamp on the face of the blade, the tang with no country of origin may be the giveaway, first or second? no stamp first-generation, country of origin stamp the second generation.

Thanked: 4So I have a red-headed stepchild?
Does all this "mystery" make it more or less valuable?
Here's a pic of the back of the razor case showing a pair of stamps.

Thanked: 1077Can you take a picture of the other side of the tang? As Jamie points out if it says Made in Spain on the reverse tang it would be 2nd gen or without country of origin it would be 1st gen.

Thanked: 1077Yes a bit of an oddity, a later production of the 1st generation model perhaps?
The show face tang stamps and lack of country of origin on reverse indicates 1st gen but the gold wash lyra is usually on 2nd gen.
So I'd go with what Jamie said 1st gen with incorrect scales.
