Thanked: 0First TI Shave - now I get it...
OK, I shaved for the first time this morning with a 7/8 TI with Olivewood scales that I had picked up second hand a while back and sent to Joe Chandler for repair due to a cracked scale at the pivot pin.
The scales had so much left over room, that Joe was able to saw off the top half inch, reposition the blade down, and it still closes (with room to spare) and misses the third pin when opened - good grief! Joe did a great job, highly recommended and cheap as hell. Still amazed. The gold wash on the Wolf and Sheep was(is) rather pitiful, and the makers mark is light and cheesy, but...
I had him sharpen it while he was at it - and OH MY - now I get what all the fuss is about...Quiet and amazingly good shave. I only wish I had waited for the weekend when I could have really enjoyed this razor. The fit and finish aside (I am seriously considering MAASing off that damn Wolf and Sheep) - this is some amazing razor...
FYI.

Yes my friend, I rank my TI right up there with my Maestros. I am holding a head to head between the two right now to see which one I like the best. It will take a few months but I will have a favorite maker after this.

Thanked: 8TI
I have a question for our knowledgeable members, if I was to purchase a TI from Classic Shaving what would be a recommendation as to the best value? I already know that it will be either a 5/8 or 6/8 but I can't figure out if it should be the carbon steel, the silver steel, the ...........
You get the idea
Thanks

I think that the TI SRP LE is a great value (especially since TI increased their prices on the normal models). If you have not seen it yet, here it is:

What I like about this razor is that it does not have fancy goldwash on the blade or fancy scales. You are just paying for an AWSOME blade and not much extra. I was lucky enough to get one with the flamed boxwood scales (#69), so I think that it looks pretty darn cool too.

I have three TI razors, A frame back, a 1/4 hollow, and full hollow. They all shave well. Hard to pick a fav. Strange, all those have a 69 mark to.

Thanked: 1My first razor purchase (new, non-ebay) was a TI Super Gnome 5/8.
It was a tough blade for me to get shave ready but I sure do love it now.
