I really need a better lighting setup.
Can anyone recommend a good lightbox?

Nice razor. I made mine with some translucent plastic sheet from a roll I have. You could do the same with sheets of velum or tracing paper.

    Thanks Shaun.
Based on my limited prior experience and advice from a photographer friend what works best is indirect lighting. A variable intensity light controller is also desired.

Yes the plastic or tracing paper works to diffuse the light and make it soft. It is suppose to kill the glare and reflection. I keep my flood lights back about 10” from the plastic diffuser which is a large box shape and the razor in the middle about 12” away on each side. Geezer made one a while back with a large plastic tote. It also seemed to work a treat.

I cut three sides out of a cardboard box, then covered them with a white trash bags.

Then lined the back n bottom, in white construction paper.

Then I use three table lamps, to light all three sides. That way I can play with shadows, and light intensity.

I will also sometimes hold something white, in front of the box, to lighten, or remove shadows, by light reflection.

I couldn't tell you how many pics I took of my 1/1/22 SOTD pic, just trying to get the right lighting.

Then there's the right background color, that best shows of your wares.

All my pics are with my phone.
And I only use the box, when I want really nice pic of special things, or finished, restores.

Its cheap n easy ta make, and works.!

Thanks a bunch, this is much appreciated!

I do have totes and always wondered what I was going to do with my articulating/clamp-on lights. Now I have a good use for them.!

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
