Lessons learned: inspect the geometries carefully before doing any work.
One more thing forgot to mention: there were probably #800 scratches on the bevel. Initially thought it was just some minor scratches, so first just tried to touch up on 12K, but could not really remove it. Got down to 8K, did not work. 5K did not work neither. Got down 2k, only able to remove most of them. I probably can remove all of them after another 50 laps on 2K stone, but did not bother.
