Thanked: 1seeking assistance identifying a razor
Hi folks. I'm new to razor collecting and new to the forum (first post!).
I recently acquired a razor, with the only identifying feature is a razor. I've been researching extensively on the internet to identify its manufacturer but haven't found one similar.
A photo is attached. Any of you recognize this? I thought maybe it was a Wester Bros, but their anchors are different.
Any assistance would be truly appreciated.
Thank you!

Without the GB and Maltese cross, it is not positively Brittain, Wilkinson, and Brownell.
I have an old one with SB and an anchor. Looking at a post from Neil, its not set in concrete.

Thanked: 1Thank you both. The anchor (not “razor” - typo in my first post) on mine seems a bit different than the one in the GB photo - both in terms of shape of the “arms” (the GB seem more circular) and the placement of the stock on the shank (the GB one is much closer to the head of the shank).
I appreciate your input and link to other threads. Very helpful.

Thanked: 52I would not be surprised to find that the anchor itself changed over time but who knows. Placement on the shank is not really an indicator of one maker over another rather a different model from the same maker IMO.
Another indicator is the shear size of the razor that is not really common.
Brittain was known for some very large razors.
Maybe the other forums you are visiting will have answers.

Yes, in spite of being reground at some point in time, it does have the 'look'.
Such as mine (also reground hollow) which was marked for a Birmingham retailer Muntz and Co. Anchors look same. No idea who the SB is.
Lots of info is lost to time.

I rest my case.

Thanked: 1Thank you folks! Sharptonn - that is a beautiful razor and scales. I agree that the anchors on yours and mine look the same. Very cool.
