Default Trying to date inherited razors

    Hi to all.
Was looking for some help dating a set of Mappin and Webb razors that I inherited from my father .
Have managed to find some info, but find it hard to date them. They are original boxing with a London address and the blades are marked with an M.
Do like a wet shave and was thing of using them. Name: IMG_7469.jpg

    Some nice old Sheffields!
Close-in pics of the tang stamps?

Is the name on the ivory that of your Father?

High-Quality. By all means, shave them!

Welcome to SRP. Glad you joined us. Very nice razors. Heirlooms are always nice to have, especially when they are nice ones like yours.
If you plan on using them you'll want to get them honed by an experienced honer. On the home page there are instructions for how to find members in your area. That's usually a good bet for guidance at the very least. Also you'll want to be patient as there is a bit of a learning curve. You'll also need to get a strop. That's a must for straight shaving. Do yourself a favor though and get a good but inexpensive one since you will likely cut your first one. We all did. As stated post some closer pics of any stamping and someone can probably give you more information. Meanwhile maybe this will help:

That page for local help should be updated. A good majority of those contacts are not active anymore, haven't been for years.

Also passed down an old wooden strop, will just have to learn how to use it correctly.

Just had a look at the link, the address stamped on the box is the Oxford st address with the top part stamped Royal Cutlery works Sheffield.

That double box is nice. Look at the plethora of colors on the inner. Pressed paper.

It seems that the ivory-scaled one often came in pairs or sets.

Investigation online, I’ve seen different boxes but none quite the same .
I have spoke to someone in their shop but they were not able to give any help . The next step would be to contact head office to see if they can date from their archives.
It also has T.J. Holland Jnr which just adds to the interest. I have thought about removing the label , but giving the condition, I feel he is owed the respect of leaving it intact, as he obviously cared for them.Name: IMG_7478.jpg
