    Default Wedge vs hollow ground

Question for the masses. Do wedges shave as well as hollow ground SR's?

In a word, "Yes... as-well, if not better". All things being equal, a good shave depends mostly on who's wielding the razor... and less on the razor, itself; at least, that's been my experience. I have always preferred a wedgier grind to a hollow grind, so that certainly figures-in to the equation.
You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.

I'm a big fan of the ol wedges. Specially now that I'm over 50. Beards a bit tougher than it used to be, and a lot more gray.

I never figured in the age thing, I am 67. Maybe that is why I prefer the old wedges. They seem to give me a better shave also. Although I do think it is a more personal opinion, such as what is your favorite brand. Be it soap, fragrance or razor. Not worth much just my opinion.

It depends on how heavy your beard is. Some beards are tougher than others.
That being said the both shave well. I just prefer a wedge. More weight to the blade and less noise from the blade flex of a hollow ground.

I struggle to hone wedges, in fact i've thought of selling them just because they are just sitting there.

I think some of it has to do with how long you've been using a straight also. It seems like people start out preferring hollow and move on to prefer heavier grinds. That's how it was for me and I have observed that for other people too. Doesn't mean that's a rule, just seems that way to me.
