Hoffritz Razor
All Right gents, I just got my latest ebay find. A Hoffritz Razor. The tang is Stamped made in W Germany. In gold wash on the front is written FIRST on the left side, in the center is an etched circle with an anchor and crossed swords, Then on the right side a gold banner that reads class. There was some rust on the spine and the upper part of the blade that came of in about two seconds. the rest of the blade appears to be new. Very shiny, very clean. I got this with a satin edge that will take some work. Anyone heard of this brand. I figure I got a deal anyway. I only paid 35$ total, including shipping. Well anybody know anything about this razor?

Thanked: 9Hoffritz had high quality brushes (made by Simpsons, iirc)
This particular etch w/ the swords and anchor whatnot is standard on Solingen blades, and I think it may also have been made by another top brand for Hoffritz. However, I think the "Class" should be "High Class" - if memory serves right (as on some Pumas, Bartmann, and other Solingen blades)
Cheers

Made in W. Germany implies it was made after WW 2 and before the Berlin wall was pulled down.

I believe Hoffritz was acquired by International Cutlery (???) awhile ago. I had a Hoffritz str8 that DudEx lost on its way to Lynn. Seemed like a nice razor. They specialized in manicure tools, scissors, etc. Haven't seen much from them recently, except under the new company name.

I remember the store they had in NYC, been there many times but never bought anything. It was a real high end cutlery type place. They manufactured nothing, everything they sold was made by others but it was all top quality. I would guess their razors, at least the ones they were selling in the 1970s were made by Dovo. I don't know about the earlier ones though.

Thanked: 4942The old Hoffritz razors were really nice shavers. I have a couple plain white handled ones in near mint condition that are great shavers and was going to put them up for sale in the group. The new ones......??????????
