Thanked: 0Razor Choice.
I have rather an annoying face for shaving. Being very thin i have very little fat on my face therefore i have a pronounced jawline and any uneveness on my neck is very prominent. At the moment i have a 7/8 full hollow ground dovo, while easy to maintain i find that the fleixibility of the blade doesnt seem to suit my face, it seems to follow the contour too much if you get what i mean, resulting in irritation and cuts. DO you think a stiffer blade would be more suitable, i am thinking the stiffer blade will mean it acts more like a DE razor and not cause it to dig in to my face. If it would give me a better shave i wouldnt mindthe extra effort when it comes to honing and stroping.

I think you could use a 4/8 or 5/8 width blade better than the 7/8. They could get into the valleys of your face better and would be more maneuverable.

Thanked: 150I have a similar face/neck situation and in my experience (not nearly as extensive as some on this forum, but experience nonetheless) wedges, or 1/4 hollows as most wedges really are, give a better control, and are not any harder to hone/strop.
But this may be that I have steel wire for facial hair and full hollows just jump around trying to cut it and the extra heft of the wedge inhibits that excessive movement.
also, try stretching/moving the skin of an area you can't reach to one that you can (within reason). I have to do this for the little dip area where those glands are on either side of the esophagus.

I have a couple of blades that are a tad shorter than most. maybe 2.5". They are easier when addressing tight spots - at least in my experience.
