I recall a lengthy discussion of this before and it was probably lost in the "crash", but Clippersol and Barbersol seemed to be the consensus of great hygene. Plus with the barbosal you get to mix and put it in a container just like the barbershops of old ( imagine a glass container that kind of looks like the straw dispenser if you can't picture it)
As for Marko and the beer ......... well......... the sig line still reminds one of the occupation your in

Thanked: 21I think there are different classes of disinfection for different needs. Barbicide is not rated by some barber codes for blades that touch skin. Of course, that doesn't mean it doesn't work.

Thanked: 1I have a glass jar of Alcohol (isopropyl) that I put all new to me razors in, for at least half an hour.
If the scales are poor I remove them and put the whole blade in, if the scales are good I suspend the razor with the blade submerged. Any heavy crud is removed first.
When the humor takes me I remove them (days sometimes) and polish with Autosol, from there decide what work the razor will need.
I have never noted any issue with rusting while a razor was submerged in isopropyl.

I just wash the blade with soap and hot water and then wipe it down with alcohol - then I dry it well. I usually let it sit for a week or so before I use it. If its an old restore, I'm going to hit it with Flitz or other metal polish, which I assume will kill/remove many of the nasties- if there are any there. Then its the wash routine.

i use Oster Professional Disinfectant Spray. kills the bad stuff. i restore/sand up all my blades so that gets most of the crap out of the way. then polish. then spray.
i like the stuff so far. easy to work with. it will slightly discolour the blade if you leave it on longer then 45minutes. but the discolouration will come right out with some maas.

I was thinking along the same lines but I use something called "Zepynamic A" by ZEP. It's a hospital disinfectant. Quote from the label: " Hospital use and broad spectrum disinfectant and antimicrobial agent. Virucidal, tuberculocidal, fungicidal, bactericidal, pseudomonicidal, staphylocidal, sanitizes fabric and leather, controls mildew and fungi.
After washing the razor with hot water and soap then soak with hydrogen peroxide (as by other users), wash again with hot water and soap, spray lightly with ZEP, then wash once more. That should do it I think.Testing
