Yeah, its just Sculpey. No reinforcement, or backing. I am really thinking of trying a set on the blade i bought today.

Funny, I wondered about Fimo for scales last year. I've never used it, but I have a sister in law who has. I didn't pursue this for scales because the limited experience I had with viewing finished Fimo objects didn't really interest me for razor scales; IMO I thought beads looked cool and other jewelry related items to some extent but I thought it would have looked funny for razor scales and the dull finish wouldn't have been what I wanted.

But..........I was less than impressed until I saw the link you posted with all those amazing canes! That's very cool and really something that people can do that. I can't wait to see your results. I wonder of after scales made from Fimo/Sculpey are finished if they could be coated with cyanoacrylate just like wood, making a glossy finish which I think would look better.

Yeah, they make a glaze for Fimo that makes it look like GLASS! It is amazing. Waterproof, and easy to use. Your local hobby store should have it right next to the Fimo and stuff.

I'm far from crafty, but I've made little christmas ornaments from Fimo and thought it was a really neat material. If you find this works out as well as it seems, would you start making scales for members? I'm not promising anything, but I think it would be pretty cool to own a razor with custom Fimo scales.

Also, I love that you hit it with an axe.

Just thought I would share a funny idea I had. I was at the hobby store and looking at some Fimo to try out a set of real scales. Then I saw this (GLOW FIMO) and though what the hell. So I am gonna use it and some black Fimo and see what I can come up with.

I saw that on ebay and thought about it myself .. I still have a fascination for glow in the dark things ... I'll be real curious to see how you get on .. I'd love to have a play with this colour ..

I dare you to shave with it in the dark, with only the glow of the scales :rofl

Hehe. That might be cool. Be careful with the black fimo though, I don't know how it'll work with the glowing part, but in general it can overpower most other fimo colours quite easily.

I am thinking for doing the scale all black but then having an F-hole design on each side in the glow i the dark. Or some other design. I really haven't gotten that far yet. LOL
