Is this some UK VAT thing? I've bought stuff from him before and have never seen this, but I'm in the US.

Yes. We Europeans pay VAT and Americans don't. In fact, Martin's site shows a "tax-free price" which is what you pay.

I'd like to make it quite clear that I'm in the UK; not the US!!
Technically, the law within the EU is that prices should only incur tax once.
