3 Vintage Need Info
Hey folks im new as my cheesy name shows. And new to strait razors aswell. I recently acquired 3 razors in there original boxes and I am very interested in them and find them interesting. I have NO plans of selling them but would like to know there value range and manif dates and history. They are #1 H.BOKER&CO UNRIVALED RAZOR has a black handle with leafy inlay and ladys head on side. Next one is J.A Henckels Twin Works has Friodur No Stain in cursive on one side and the name and #451 on other handle is plain yellow. #3 I cant find much info on, Antelope Special #94 has yellow handle with vine like desighn and small flowers and a kinda creepy looking head with angel like wings in midle all 3 say made in Germany. I have shaved with all 3 and there all in good shape. I also have a leather strop that says Merit Highland Shell Peter J Michels Brooklyn Ny is in decent shape and works well or ateast well enough to maintain the edge.
Any info you guys have I would love to hear good or bad. All my searches have came up very very vague and uninformative.
Thanks, Matt

Pics would do wonders for better info. Sounds like some good razors but sight unseen will get few remarks.

I'm very much a newbie in regards to linking things on the internet and remaking url links into words but I use photobucket for linking pictures and its very easy
Once uploaded that is what your picture will look like in your "photoalbum" or whatever they call it.
clicking the box circled in red once with your left mouse button copies a link that you can paste into forums like this and then the image will show up like it does here with mine.
I have no idea if this is the problem that you have with posting pictures or not but if it is I hope it helps.
Photobucket is free btw.
At least I think others see a picture like I do
Edit. oops ok once you delete the pictures from your bucket they are removed from the pages at which they are displayed as well, go figure =)Last edited by Chady; 04-12-2008 at 10:12 AM.

Nice razors, the boker and the antelope look really nice and should clean up really good. I know on ebay the boker's like that have been fetching quite a price lately, it has a really nice worked spine, that fancy looking sort-of spanish point (not sure what to call it!) and yours looks to be in really good condition scales and all. German-made razors are generally good quality razors too, so despite not knowing much about the antelope one I'd say that'll probably prove to be a good razor as well. It also looks to have a bit of a worked spine and some nice etching on it. I think a lot of guys like to see the razors with the decorative worked spines, including me! I'd even buy some on ebay that needed some resto work if I could find them and they looked restorable without a ton of damage. The toe on the last one looks pretty bad though.
As for the strop I don't know much about it but have read a little bit about shell strops lately, guess they are older vintage strops. You could do a search in the strop forum on 'shell' and probably come up with some info on some of those strops, I duno much about them myself.
Nice razors though!

I aquired actualy 4 the 4th was without a box and is rougher but I can make out the word STERLING on one side. All of these came from my wife's StepGrandfather who was a retired Braber recently passed away. Her grandmother who now lives with her father told usto take what ever we wanted. So when going thrue some things I found all the Razors in a cardboard box from when he closed shop.
There is also a old Barbers chair that the strop was hooked on. I also found several nice stones. And 2 Strait Razors that take disposable blades with several packs of unopend blades.
