What is your storage ritual?
Just curious if it's just me or if there are others. When I store my razors after using them, I rinse the soap off, dry with a dry towel, strop, wipe it down with mineral oil, and then return it to it's knife roll.
Here's where I get a little weird with my ritual: the razors have to be with the etching side up and as I use my rotation I actually rotate them in the knife roll. For example, the last used will be at the bottom of the roll, while the others move up one spot. I have no earthly idea WHY it do it, I just do.
C'mon fess up, what is your storage ritual?
EDIT: fogot a step lol. I spray the blade with rubbing alcohol to help dispell any water left after drying, then I dry it off before the mineral oilLast edited by freebird; 05-07-2008 at 02:11 PM. Reason: omitted a step

I dry my razor with a towel, close the blade halfway, then reach up really high and set on top of the shelf right by my shower.

I rinse the soap off, dry with a dry towel, return to Dovo leather 7-razor case, put case on bathroom shelf and forget about it.

I rinse and wipe the blade/scales thorughly after use. I than set the blade in a razor stand for a day before returning to my storage draw so it can get ample air. The next morning I return the prior day's razor to storage and place the day's razor in the stand after use.

I rinse the blade, strop-dry on a towel, wipe down with alcohol, dry again, then strop on the leather. Then I leave it out and open for 20 minutes or so while I finish getting dressed, etc. Then its away into the chest in the pic. Its either dry enough or air conditioned enough here that I don't see the need to oil them.

Rinse off with HOT tap water, dry with a soft cloth and wipe with an Outer's Silicone Gun Cloth impregnated with R.I.G. ( rust inhibiting grease) Down here in sunny humid Florida you can't be too careful.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

It's super dry in my house, so I just rinse the soap off. If it's a carbon blade I'll swipe it with a towel once, for stainless I just put 'em up wet in my improvised razor stand. (a steel and ceramic toothbrush holder from target)
They're always dry and rust-free the next morning.

I rinse with hot water, wipe clean, strop, and place in back with my other razors. I don't have a great spot for them in my cluttered dorm room, so they sit out on a table right next to the bathroom door.
I used to have them arranged randomly so I'd get some variation in blade type for each shave, but now I keep them in weight order. I've also been randomly choosing instead of rotating through.
