Thread: Geneva cutlery corp.

These posts are a reassuring read. I also picked up a Geneva Cutlery Corp straight razor in 6/8 with a spike point and ivoroid scales. Looks like zero wear on the blade/spine.
This one has a little pyramid on the model stamping. I dig it, but buy things without REALLY knowing what I'm getting into...

Hi Ramsa, It sounds like you stumbled across somewhat of a find there. I've only seen 2 6/8 Gencos in the last 6 yrs & one is rather wavy. The posts about being hard to hone - I'm guessing they came across some kind of outlier - semi rare, but out of spec blade. Being hand made at the time means more process variation. Have a good pro edge on that, respect that point & your have ALOT of wonderful shaves. The vendor section will have contact info for good honing. If you have trouble - I'll gladly hone for just the actual postage cost to get it back to you. I'm sure others would do likewise. Have some fun w/ that nice new blade.

I have 3 Genco's, 1 Geneva and 2 Ontarios. I think the Genco's are amazing. I picked up a Genco on Ebay sold by an Estate that was new, still in the box and found in their Grandfathers night table. I shaved with it once with just stropping and it was smooth as silk. I cleaned it up and haven't used it since. Just like to look at it and marvel how good the quality is and made almost 100 years ago. They hold the edge as good as any razor with minimal maintenance. It's a keeper and you can't beat the price.
