Geneva cutlery corp.
i just found this at a local antique shop and was wondering if anyone had information on ages of geneva cutlery straits?? It is a 6/8 with what appears to be celuloid scales in a tortoise shell pattern. says geneva cutlery co. Geneva Ny, usa on the front and on the back it has an image of a native american wearing a headdress and under that it says ontario. I am going to attempt to put pictures on here but dont know how they will look so please bear with a newb. Any info would be appreciated.
thanks in advance gents,

From http://www.uniclectica.com/misc/manuf.html
GENEVA CUTLERY CO.
Geneva, New York
By 1912, the largest US manufacturer of razors. In 1928, firm reorganized as Geneva Cutlery Inc.
Used "GENCO" trademark
ca. 1902-1935
ONTARIO CUTLERY CO.
Geneva, New York
ca. 1904 - present
Geneva/Genco razors are very well thought of. I have a couple of Ontario razors, one of them might be the same as the one you found there. It looks the same and has the same tang stamp except it just says Ontario without the Geneva Co. They are both great shavers. I've always suspected that Ontario was made by Genco, but have never been sure. Sounds like you did good.

Hey thanks jordan i got it at a really fair price imho. i had heard good things about this brand and the lady had several other ones i would like to have as well so maybe on payday. i was un-aware that theontario and geneva were same company (?)interesting that both were stamped on the blade. i wonder therefore if there was a merger at some time thatbrought the two together and thus the dual markings. anyhow i hope it cleans up and is as good a shaver as i have been told.
Fingers crossed

I have a 6/8's Geneva as well. It's a great shaver. Too bad the company is out of business.

I have a shorty in gold wash. Most of the gold is long gone but a few spots are still intact, and another that I do not remember the model of.

I just picked up a Geneva Yesterday! I grabbed it because of price and blade condition (I'll be making new scales for it our of Bolivian rosewood), plus I was curious as to if it had any local connections. I'm from Maybe 30 Minutes north of Geneva, New York. So a quick search on Google brought me right to where I should have started my search anyway! I'm glad I now have a little piece of local history in my collection. Thanks for sharing yours!
