The Finest Shaver in the World
What IS the world's finest shaver? Dang, I am getting so confused.
Is it the Chronik?
The MOP dovo?
The Le Grelot (a humble regrind)?
The TI 7/8 square point (with or without mammoth scales)?
The Zowada damascus?
Anything by Mappin and Webb?
A $300 rescaled wapi?
Or the TI Limited blond horn covered tang 5/8 (I predict CS will run out of stock very quickly)?
Did I miss anything? Feel free to add your entry without fear of being b*tchslapped.
Anyone for a poll?Last edited by RayG; 05-31-2008 at 10:41 PM.

Thanked: 1587Ah, tricky question. I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that it's the next razor on our "to buy" list. You know, the pot of gold at the end of the shaving rainbow. Same with hones, actually - that next hone will give the perfect edge, that next razor will give the perfect shave.
Anyone interested in joining my support group, ADA (acquisition disorders anonymous), please phone (international toll-free) 555 - SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW. Support is just an inordinately long international phone call away.

The Best Shaver? Obviously it's the most expensive!
Surely it couldn't be an el cheapo Geneva Cutlery, Robeson or Sta-Sharp... that would be a real letdown.

I'm hoping it's The Le Grelot (a humble regrind) as I just ordered and paid for one on "The other shaving website".. I surely hope it lives up to all the hype;-)

That particular one has me even more confused, and is one reason for this tongue-in-cheek post. The same people in that circle seem to regard regrinds like the livi as nothing more than "rescaled ebay specials" not worth more than $70 while proclaiming the TI regrinds of the vintage le grelot blanks as the bee's knees.
But seriously, you will like it, Ken. I was on the list, but was lucky enough to get hold of a used plain jane Le Grelot for half the price, and I love it.Last edited by RayG; 06-01-2008 at 01:09 AM.
