Don't use polishing compounds on the gold, they will wear it down pretty quickly.
Just keep your blade clean and tarnish free, and you'll be fine.
If you feel the need to polish you blade, just use a soft cloth, and avoid the gold wash.
    Nice razor.

    Very Nice.
Anyone able to do a little "potted history" on Wacker?
I think I like the look of 'em.

I honed the razor to a frightening edge last night, possibly a little too sharp. It will split even the finest of hairs. It shaves very good, it was a little harsh this morning but the first shave on a freshly honed blade is usually a little edgy, I also had 3 days worth of beard to cut down which would tax any blade, and kill a less than perfect edge. I will have a better idea tomorrow but I believe it will go in the best of the best rotation and match the Revisor, Dorko, Henckels and Morley blades. It is well ground and polished with almost no mill marks remaining in the steel.

The horn is nice, more markings than most and I have no plans on replacing them. Cursory opinion, it is worth the price.

    Nice razor.
I agree with Mike, use nothing but a soft cloth. Even rubbing it with a towel too hard will wear it off.

Ah yes, a Wacker Jungmeister. Outstanding shavers - get them, while they last, Mr. Wacker has no more left so any remaining stock in the stores is all there is left of these beauties.

Used it again this morning. I only had a day’s worth of whiskers to mow down. The edge had ‘settled in’ and the light scratchy feeling has passed. I soaped up with some sweet orange bay rum soap from TGQ and gave the blade 50 passes on leather. One pass with the grain, one against, baby bottom smooth. I won’t say it is the best shaver in the stable, but that could change in a day or two when the edge is broken in. It is a 9.2 on my scale right now but I have never had a perfect 10 so that is darn high on the scale. I am satisfied with my purchase.
