Kadake razor
I was perusing the offerings on Ebay from Open Razor and found He was selling a Kadake razor. I have searched the archives and didn't find anything. It looks like a no nonsense razor that still looks nice. There isn't much description.
Any comments, thoughts?

It looks like a brand new razor and that spells trouble because the only factory made quality razors being made today are either Dovo, Ti and to a lesser extent henckels, Boker and Wacker. And of course the wapi's. So that leaves a razor coming from a part of the world I wouldn't want a razor to be coming from like pakistan, China or India.
But who knows maybe you found a gem. let us know how it shaves. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero

Thanked: 2209I agree, thats taking a chance and the price tag is to high. Maybe...just maybe it is ok. If you like being a pioneer and blazing a trail go ahead.
My choice would be his other offering, the Wapi, or a Double Arrow from Kenrup, a member here. Both are good, new, starter razors.
But I would take a vintage razor first from the SRP Classifieds that has been cleaned, honed and shave tested.Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

I am waiting for a response from the seller as to where this is made. Other questions I should ask? Maybe I should make him an offer- maybe the price of the Wapienica. Maybe I can get a discount for reviewing it here. In all fairness to the blade, I would need to send it to one of the honemeisters for honing and review.
I was wondering who makes the razors for Razolution and Klaas?

I just wasn't sure what he was saying. I agree he was telling me to look at the Wapi. I thanked him.

Thanked: 2209The Wapi is a good razor if you get one that is not slightly warped. It is a wedge grind razor with good fit, finish and grind. Not difficult to hone unless there is a slight warp. 5/8" size.
The Double Arrow is ok if you don't mind a fit, finish and grind that leaves a bit to be desired, it is also easy to hone and very inexpensive.
6/8-7/8 size with a "smile" edge shape, full hollow grind.
A better choice is a vintage razor from our SRP Classifieds that has been honed and shave tested.
Just my two cents,Randolph Tuttle, a SRP Mentor for residents of Minnesota & western Wisconsin

open_razor is easy to work with, and if you aren't satisfied he will work with you. If I wanted to try a new razor, I'd try it
