    Default GOE razor?

    Hi,
I just got a vintage razor from my father-in-law, which belonged to his father. The tang is marked "GOE" on one side, and "forged and real hollow ground in Germany" on the other side.
The blade is edged with an armored right arm of a knight surrounded by this text:
    "Gau (pic of arm) ntlet"
    REGo (pic of arm) RAZOR
    Scales are of plastic.
After I cleaned it up it looks like this:

Any idea which company manufactured this one?

Thanks, but I actually don't like them. After I shaved with it, I found it to be a first class shaver. I think it deserves better scales, and ordered a pair of horn scales from Vintage Blades.

What a shame, they look lovely from here. What is it you don't like, the balance or just the look?

The blade hits the scale when closing, unless I bend it somewhat in one direction. The pivot pin is too short to correct this problem, and yes, I simply dislike the scales. They're not my taste. Rescaling this razor may be a terrible thing to do from a collector's point of view, but I'm no collector, I'm a user. Therefore I'll restore it to my liking, and I'm sure it will become one of my favorite shavers.
If you like the scales so much, I can try to remove them w/o damaging, and send them your way. Interested?

If you end up getting the scales off in one piece, I would love to have them. I have tons of blades waiting for scales.

I'll do my best to keep them intact. I'll give it a try tomorrow and let you know how it went.
