Hmmmm......this may be too great of an offer to pass up. Would you be equally enthused by Vintage Green Abalone or is it Paua......specifically.......that would bring you out of retirement?
I'd like to contact two of the high-end guitar manufacturers I deal with (I own a guitar shop) to see what price I could get on a sheet of one or the other. What dimensions would you need?
Thanks to all who have responded!

Yes, Gabor does make some exceptionally nice scales! The Le Grelot to which you refer is a thing of beauty, as is the bone scaled blade he posted here at SRP.
From what I understand, working with MoP is rather hazardous. Inhaling its dust can cause all sorts of nastiness in your lungs.

Thanked: 735Hmm, well, that Paua sounds/looks pretty cool.
But....if it's going to cost you over $200 for just a sheet of it, why not just buy another Dovo MOP (~$250, right?), and use the scales off of that?
Take the Dovo blade and put it in the scales that are currently on the LeGrelot, and then you can sell that razor off to defray the cost? Or keep it as a travel/backup razor?
