I'm saving up my warped Wapis to make a set of steak knives.

Thanked: 1No problem shredder, I'm always happy to recommend things that I think are exceptional whether it be products or people. For what it's worth I have some high end razors including a Livi and a TI and neither come anywhere near the Wapis. I do however appreciate that they work for other people. I have been using a straight for about a year now and have tried enough razors to decide that a razor with a lesser grind is more suitable for me. I will definately be selling the TI on at some point as I would rather someone else have it than it sit on my shelf. It may be that as you progress you begin to change your preferences, but personally I will not be trying any more fancy blades as I have found a razor that caters for all my needs.

Thanked: 0I know what you mean. I've tried a Kropp and the TI, both hollow ground and neither man enough to deal with my stubble. This kind of suggests that a wedge style blade is better for me than a more delicate hollow ground blade. Japanese has to be the way forward for Desparate Dans

Thanked: 0Had a honefest last night and found that the Wapi has a slight bend in it.
Are there ANY straight razors out there?
Yorkshireman, the chap I leant the Kropp to (Almax), has noted that the Kropp has trouble holding an edge, can you shed any light in this at all? It's a lovely blade, but no good if it needs stropping every 5 mins while your face goes cold.

Thanked: 0Wapi fans will probably excommunicate me for this, but I removed the blade from the scales, moved it up in the scales about an inch, then epoxied it back in place. I now have a fixed blade Wapi and it's all the better for it. I just wasn't getting on with the whole moving scales thing. Still a long way to go before I get a shave that doesn't sound like someone de-scaling a fish though.
