Thanked: 0Wapi arrived today. What a difference!
Thanks for the advice Barbelus maximus, much appreciated.
I love the total lack of pretence of this blade, no fancy scales, this one doesn't even have any markings on the blade but it's a million times better than the self honed Kropp (my learning curve razor) and (I hate to say it because it was a gift) the TI.
Soaked up for a bit longer this time, water was still probably not hot enough but I was getting drenched from the soaked T shirt wrapped round my head.
The more wedge like blade trundled though my beard with little effort, not as little effort as I would like but I can see that confidence and technique can make a massive difference to the shave and loss of red cells.
Big thumbs up to Theinvisibleedge for fast postage and a quality bit of kit.Last edited by Shredder; 09-04-2008 at 12:47 PM.

The beauty for me with the wapi blade is that it has a stiffer grind (1/2 hollow)
I have quite a coarse chin area and with this stiffer blade, I can get a more effort free shave.
All hail the cheap wapis¬!¬!¬!¬!¬!

Thanked: 31Glad to hear so many good things about the Wapi. I dove in and ordered a Wapi kit from kenrup last night... I can't wait to see how this straight razor stuff goes for me.

Thanked: 735I let it "rest" for 24 hours, and it was OK after that...
Actually, it sprang back right away.
Here is a pic of the warped Wapi, even after a lot of hone work. You can see there is an area that just isn't making contact with the hone. On the other side the heel of the razor wasn't making contact. I rectified that by putting apiece of tape on the toe for a while when honing. The hone wear so far on the razor is atrociuos. By the time I get it honed right it will be a 4/8!
That being said, the other Wapi honed up without any issues, and the new owner seems quite pleased with it.
If you get a pre-honed Wapi, I'm sure it will be fine.

Ive got one of the unique SFM stamped ones and it will never leave my grasp! I'm convinced it shaves better than any of the SFK's or non-stamped ones I've used. With variables minimized as much as poss.

Thanked: 735Update:
I just used that Wapi shown above to open a box that arrived here at my desk a little while ago.
It sliced through the packing tape quicker than a HHT!
